Successful S-LIMS implementation and Roll-out at The Himalaya Drug Company, India

We are glad to announce yet another successful implementation of our flagship product ‘The Sarla- Laboratory Information Management System (S-LIMS) in India. This time, we helped the Himalaya Drugs Company (India) to automate their manual and decentralized laboratory information management using the S-LIMS.

The existing information management system at Himalaya’s laboratories needed an upgrade to match high quality standards established by the organization. They required a futuristic solution that would enable Himalaya in optimal utilization of resources and improve efficiencies of laboratory information management. An ideal solution for Himalaya would further enhance their data integrity and compliance with global standards.

We leveraged our experience on SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP MII), SAP Quality management (SAP QM) and Global Specification Management Application to create an integrated S-LIMS application for Himalaya. Master data is created by R&D for one time in GSM system. This helped them to avoid recreation of master data in LIMS and therefore increased the resource utilization and process efficiency.

S-LIMS implementation helped Himalaya to enjoy a host of integrated key features like Master Data Synchronization with GSM Application, Lab-wise Sample Distribution, Sample Type-wise Responsibility Distribution, Machine-wise Analyst Qualification, Sample Management, Sample Analysis and Approval, Out of Specification (OOS) Investigation and Out of Trend (OOT) Analysis, Email Notification for desired activities , Electronic Signature and Audit Trail to comply with regulatory requirements like 21 CFR Part 11.

Mr. Manish Shah, Head- Products & Solution Division, Sarla Technologies, said, “This was a prestigious implementation that lasted for nearly a year. Our team took end-to-end responsibility of the implementation from URS Compliance, FDS, IQ, OQ and assistance in PQ, RTM, and VSR. The advantage of knowing pharmaceutical processes helped us to ‘speak the same language’ as our counterparts at Himalaya. We are glad that S-LIMS enabled them to make their process more stringent, reliable and imparted traceability across the value chain. This implementation is also a testimony to the potential value that S-LIMS can add to pharmaceutical companies in India.”
